Have you ever caught yourself reading someone's blog about how their homemade meal went perfectly as planned, double-tapped Instagrams of people lying on the beach or a group photo of their night out with the girls and felt a little bummed out?
Guilty. Oh so guilty.
I do this on the daily while getting my Friends fix on Netflix in my sweats!
In social media we highlight all the good parts of our life.
Maybe Mark and I had a fight in the same day I get pulled over before baking some cookies.
Out of that less than awesome day, you better believe I am posting a photo of my ooey-gooey delicacies with #homemade #imtherealcookiemonster #omnomnom and ignoring the less-than-graceful part.
(Thanks Jimmy F and JT!)
Nobody has a perfect life. We all get pulled over, screw up a recipe for dinner, argue with family, rip our favorite jeans, feel like the worst parent ever because we can't soothe our crying child, and have straight up crappy days. Comparing this part of ourselves to others' highlights makes us our own worst critic!
Guys I gotta say it. We are so mean to ourselves sometimes!
I discovered a blog and Instagram account today started by a woman named Hailey who recently started the campaign #BeNiceToYourselfie.
I have been seeing it on Instagram lately, and if you want to be apart of the campaign just post a photo of yourself, comment how you are being nice to yourself today, add the hashtag and LIKE IT.
Let's be nice, people!
